Hey y’all! I’m Varyssa Henderson. A proud Durham native that has been described as ambitious, outgoing, and led by faith, legacy, and love for the stage. I recently earned my BFA in Musical Theatre, and I’ve poured my heart into roles that demand both grit and vulnerability, like Intimate Apparel, where I played Esther Mills. I believe performance is sacred work and a way for humans to truly connect.

As a proud black woman, I perform for people who need to see someone like me and for my family who’s poured into me. My goal is to create a performance that adds to a persons life or helps them to realize something they didn’t know they needed. I believe God placed me here to share stories that matter, and I don’t take that lightly.

I am currently performing at Short North Stage as the Dorothy standby in The Wiz! I will be heading to UPTA’s in February to audition for the upcoming seasons. I am so excited to see what this journey has in store for me!
